A Reminder – Shirley Press on Katie Couric Show tomorrow July 1st on ABC at 3pm

June 30th, 2013

I’m excited (and a little nervous) to see tomorrow’s airing (3pm on ABC) of the Katie Couric show. As I mentioned in a prior post, I was flown out to NYC a few weeks ago as a guest on the Katie Couric show. The episode (Life After Lottery) spotlights lottery winners and how they fared after their lottery win. Here’s a link to Monday’s episode page on Katie Couric’s website.

If you watch the episode, let me know what you think. Share your thoughts and leave a comment.

This photo was snapped on set with my iPhone.

I lived at 862 Fairview Street growing up in Camden. Your father was such a wonderful human being – he told me when I was young he wanted to dance at my wedding. He kept a book listing what my family owed for purchases and my Mom & Dad always repaid him not only the money owed but also with kindness. We didn’t have a home phone back then and when we needed a phone we would just walk to the store a few houses down the street. He was such a generous man to my family (my Mom had 9 children) and I will always remember him as a wonderful neighbor. You were blessed to have such a wonderful father. I stole a pickle one time from the big barrel and I think your Dad saw me, but he never said a word and I always felt so bad about that!

Hi Marianne,
I’m so sorry that I missed your comment from a couple years ago. I appreciate the kind words that you said about my father. He was the best. It is so sad that he died at age 48. And stop feeling bad about the pickle.
Best,
Shirley

Dorken’s corner store was the best and so were the people who owned it. Mr. and Mrs Dorken love all of kids if every one of your friends were getting a treat and you had no money they let you take something any way and said come back and pay me tomorrow. You would pay the next day so they would trust you again. I think because of them and their nephew helped us be better kids. My they all R I P
